Conservatory Blinds in Horsham | A Simple Guide to Cleaning

If you have invested in made to measure blinds, you’ll want to keep them in the best condition for as long as possible. Different products, such as roller blinds and vertical blinds, present different challenges when it comes to cleaning. However, with a better understanding of what to do and what to use, you can build a regular cleaning routine that’s fast, simple and effective.

Roller Blinds

These are quick and simple to clean. Products consisting of PVC and easy-wipe materials are even easier. Simply wind your made to measure blinds down as far as possible. Take a damp, clean cloth and wipe them from top to bottom. Once the entire surface is clean, leave it to dry before rolling the blind back up again.

If you decide to use a wet wipe to clean roller and vertical blinds, do so gently. Otherwise you might remove any protective coating.

Soapy water is perfect for removing dust and dirt from plastic or fabric cords and chains on roller blinds. However, avoid using water to clean steel or brass fitting, to avoid rust and corrosion.

A silicon spray cleans the mechanisms of most vertical, roller and conservatory blinds safely. It will also stop issues with stiffness and squeakiness. For a more thorough clean, unclip the louvres from the rail and wipe them down individually. Always let the louvres dry naturally. This helps them to maintain their shape and colour. Leave over-saturated louvres to dry flat on a clean surface in your Horsham property, turning them occasionally. Never hang them to dry vertically, as this causes water to accumulate at the bottom of the fabric.

This could distort your vertical blinds and change their shape.

With the louvres removed, unclip sticky headrails and chains from the brackets. Wipe under the rails with a damp cloth or a wet wipe and use a silicon spray on the mechanism. Leave to dry before clipping the louvres back into place.

Conservatory Blinds
